I am one of many who came to know about the beauty of wordpress after trying 100s of other things. I am really a computer illiterate and was looking for a community software to have my first site. I chose I
nvision power Board. I am happy with the service provided by IPB but probably it was more than what I needed really. Also, It was expensive. I am still paying yearly fees for IPB support. Let me come to the point. I had Invision Power Board installed in my first ever created website. However, with time I realized that “quality” posts is something different. So, I needed a so called “website” that organize and list materials properly. One of the first thing I tried was online site builders. Those softwares usually comes free with any hosting packages. I was happy with it for some time till I realize that I need some “interaction” in my website. That is when I started trying different CMS and Blogging softwares including
Drupal, Zoomla, Wordpress and more. It was wordpress that caught my attention immediately. It was easy to use, easy to set up. Easy to fix if you mess up. So I started using wordpress.
More I used Wordpress, more I got addicted to it. It was easy to change the look of my site in few clicks - installing new themes, it was easy to add new functionality by adding plugins. I was impressed and still I am. However, I now had to figure out a way to integrate my FORUM users to my blog. I am sorry to say, I was not expert enough to do that. There are no plugin available to integrate wordpress with Invision Power Board. There used to be some plugins to integrate other forum softwares with Wordpress but none was under active development. Specially they could not cope up with the fast development of wordpress either.
So I decided to move from Invision Power Board and started looking for Wordpress - Forum plugins. Again there used to many including famous WP -Forum plugin that I used before. But I never new about bbPress at all. It is sad that many wordpress bloggers still may not know about the bbPress at all. If you do a plugin search, bbPress won’t show up. Simply because it is not a plugin. But I wish they have some nice link to the BBPRESS page at the homepage of wordpress so that many, like me, would not spend time looking for some forum integration solution when the best wordpress forum integration solution is already available and the same BBPRESS is used in official wordpress community forum.
Guys, take my word. bbPress is the best possible forum integration for Wordpress. It is elegant. easy to customize and FREE. Also we have good plugin database and themes for the bbPress forum too.
